COPE: Create Once and Publish Everywhere

As part of my content strategy work at Southern California Edison, I introduced the company to the concept of COPE (Create Once, Publish Everywhere). With so many content management systems, multiple devices and numerous collateral pieces it is hard to stay consistent. Without the COPE strategy, content development, production, and maintenance is costly and inefficient.

To achieve COPE, I reached out to agencies and stakeholders to educate and train to think with a mobile first approach. The content creators needed to think about the lowest screen space and how the end user would consume the content. With this mindset, content creators would design and develop content in a structure modular way so that no matter the device, the content would be free to adapt to the technology. The modular concept and COPE strategy has helped to reduce design and production costs as well as improve customer satisfaction with a consistent brand and message.
